Population and Family Planning Indicators (1993-98) - Findings of Contraceptive Prevalence Survey in 12 Large Clusters

The Population and Family Planning Indicators project was started by NIPS in early 1993 with the objective of assessing and improving population and family planning indicators such as, crude birth rate (CBR), crude death rate (CDR), rate of natural increase (RNI), total fertility rate (TFR), and contraceptive prevalence rate (CPR). Another purpose was to experiment dual system of data collection on vital events on sample basis.

Accessibility and Availability of Contraceptives in Rural Areas of Pakistan

The study aimed to assess the accessibility and availability of contraceptives in rural Pakistan. In all, 150 rural localities were visited to see the availability of health and family planning services. Out of 150 localities, only 28 had some kind of hospitals, but family planning was available in only 15 hospitals, and only four of them were within the distance of five kilometers.

Population and Family Planning Indicators - Result of Pakistan Contraceptive Prevalence Survey, 1993

The Population and Family Planning Indicators project was started by National Institute of Population Studies (NIPS) in January 1993. The main objective of the project was to develop and establish a system for obtaining timely and reliable data on a continuous basis, about population and family planning. The data as needed for the formulation, implementation and evaluation of population welfare programme/activities and for preparation of plans and projects.
