Evaluation of Registered Medical Practitioners (RMPs) involved with the Population Welfare Programme

National Institute of Population Studies undertook a field study, to find out how the component of Registered Medical Practitioners was working. The field survey was carried out during March-June 1999. A national sample of 1728 Registered Medical Practitioners was drawn covering all the four provinces and urban and rural areas of the country by using two staged sampling procedure.

Evaluation of Non-Clinical Component of Population Welfare Programme

The study aimed to evaluate the non-clinical training component of the population welfare programme. The training activities were being imparted by three Population Welfare Training Institutes (PWTIs). The training session are conducted for the Programme Personal, Employees of other Nation Building Departments, and Community Based Volunteers and Private Groups. Evaluation of PWTIs was executed by carrying out the Survey of the three PWTIs and trainers and also by following up personnel trained by the PWTIs.

Evaluation of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Component of Population Welfare Programme of Pakistan

The study evaluates the performance of the IEC programme of the M/o Population Welfare during the 7th Plan period. The study was initiated in the 2nd quarter of 1994 with the aim to evaluate the IEC component of the population welfare programme. The first report of the survey was published and widely distributed.

Evaluation of Family Health Manpower Development Project of Population Welfare Programme

Family Health Manpower Development is one of the core components of the programme. UNFPA had been funding this component since 1978. The project activities were carried out by the Directorate of Clinical Training, Karachi through its twelve Regional Training Institutes (RTIs).

Perception of Religious Leaders about Population Welfare

The survey of Perception of Religious Leaders about Population Welfare was conducted by the National Institute of Population Studies (NIPS) during 1999-2000. The field work was carried at the national level from February to May 2000. The objective of the survey was to find out population knowledge, assess their awareness about demographic and health related issues.

Population and Family Planning Indicators (1993-98) - Findings of Contraceptive Prevalence Survey in 12 Large Clusters

The Population and Family Planning Indicators project was started by NIPS in early 1993 with the objective of assessing and improving population and family planning indicators such as, crude birth rate (CBR), crude death rate (CDR), rate of natural increase (RNI), total fertility rate (TFR), and contraceptive prevalence rate (CPR). Another purpose was to experiment dual system of data collection on vital events on sample basis.

Cost Effectiveness Study of a District for Family Planning Component of the Population Welfare Programme

The study was a detailed analysis of costs and cost effectiveness of family planning services in terms of type of service outlets and type of methods.
The study was restricted to one district only as an initial exercise. It brought out the methodological issues inherent in cost effectiveness studies. The study provided a methodology and background material for understanding issues relating to programme costs and cost effectiveness and set the stage for further inquiries in future, relating to financing and cost effectiveness of family planning programme.

Report of the Management Audit of the Pakistan Population Welfare Programme

The study aimed at investigating the system of management of Population Welfare Programme as a complex organization and to make recommendations for improving management system to enhance performance of the programme. The study provided useful guidelines for managing the programme more efficiently in order to meet the objectives of the programme. The study was based on 389 interviews of different level managers and service providers both from the federal and the provincial governments. Some written information was also obtained from selected managers and service provider.
