High quality research is considered to bear crucial importance for evidence-based and informed policy making, strategic planning, advocacy campaign and service delivery, especially in the field of social development, including population and health. The National Institute of Population Studies (NIPS) is committed to undertake all the research activities in keeping with internationally accepted values & ethics as its Guiding Principles and accordingly, all the research proposals and protocols developed by the NIPS require to be vetted and approved by the Ethics Committee.

Respect for Human Beings

Recognizing that each human being deserves respect and value and therefore requires informed consent, confidentiality and privacy. This binds the Institute and its personnel for a responsible and socio-culturally acceptable behavior and conduct with the responsibility to save themselves and others, and amicably resolve conflict of interest, if there is any.

 
Research Merit and Integrity

The research is designed and undertaken in the manners that it achieves its aim(s) and it is conducted honestly ensuring objectivity and integrity of data and the whole research process without any Research Misconduct, especially in the terms of fabrication, falsification and plagiarism. The research data and the information produced, including the research reports and publication, are treated as the intellectual property of the NIPS but can be utilized for any purpose or referencing, with proper acknowledgment for the NIPS.

 
Beneficence

NIPS undertakes research for doing good to the society and maximizing the benefits of the research and also avoiding/ providing protection, from harm.
